Nail Intelligence
Nail Intelligence: Staying power
People with varnished nails should avoid handcreams containing AHAs as these can discolour polish. Instead, opt for a moisturizing face mask and use once a week to hydrate and condition nails.
Nail Intelligence: Once bitten
Habitual nail biting can look unattractive and ruin the condition of your nails. Treating yourself to a regular professional manicure will help to break the habit and get nails in optimum condition.
To improve your nails health at home massage a drop of oil or cream into the cuticles daily. A nail hardener can also be used to promote the return of strong, healthy nails.
You may also want to invest in a harmless but foul-tasting colourless nail treatment formula to break the biting habit. I myself have successfully used these nasty tasting things and recommend to clients on a regular basis.
As the condition of your nails improves, paint the tips with a white matte or pearlized polish. This will elongate them, making them appear longer.
Nail Intelligence: Polish work
If you are left with discoloured nails after the removal of nail enamel drop two denture-cleansing tablets into a quarter of a glass of water and use with a nail brush to gently scrub the nails. The solution will remove any excess traces of coloured varnish.
Nail Intelligence: Shelf life
To prolong the shelf life of nail enamel use a little oil to wipe the rim of the unsealed bottle before replacing the lid. This will prevent the lid from sticking and ensure that it is closed correctly.
A common reason that nail enamel often becomes dry and unusable is because the bottle is not air-tight so, use this trick to prolong the shelf life of your favorite varnish.
Remember that heat will expand your enamels ingredients and affect the products consistency. Always store your enamel in a cool place to prevent this from happening. I personally store mine in the fridge to slow down discolouration and make it last longer. A great tip for all you polish junkies!
