Master Class: How To Achieve The Perfect Brows
Master Class: How to achieve perfect brows
Your eyebrows can make or break a look.
Shaping the right brows emphasizes the eyes and gives character to the face while making you look visibly younger and, slimmer.
Failing to achieve a full, natural eyebrow shape will instantly age you, changing your features completely and can even make you appear angry or harsh.
One thing I recommend to all my clients is to outsource your brow grooming by booking an appointment with a brow professional. Beautifully well groomed eyebrows require dedicated regular maintenance and, if your lacking in confidence, a professional can help you to find and achieve the most flattering brow shape for your face.
Today I will be giving you a master class on how to create the perfect brow by following some simple tips and tricks.
Step One: The tame game
Using a spooly (mascara style) brush, brush the brow hairs upwards prior to tweezing. For long hairs or hairs that appear to be growing straight down, a pair of brow scissors can be used to trim and remove the unwanted areas of hair.
A great tip is to have two pairs of tweezers. A slant-tipped pair are ideal for thick hair where as tweezers with a needle-nose-tip are perfect for clasping shorter hard to reach hairs.
Step Two: Shaping up
Use a white eyeliner pencil to draw your desired brow shape. This will act as your tweezing guide and ensure you achieve the perfect shaped brows.
Step Three: Pick wisely
It is essential that you choose penciled products wisely. If you're...
Blonde: To add definition, match your pencil to your darkest brow hairs.
Going Grey: Avoid dull tones and instead opt for a taupe colour.
A Redhead: Always stick with sable.
Brunette: To soften skin tone, opt for a colour one shade lighter than your natural hair.
Step Four: Finishing Touches
After filling, add definition and shine by applying a clear brow gel or light slick of vaseline. You may want to consider opting for a tinted gel if it is extra colour you require.
If your aim is to achieve fuller looking brows, brush the thickest part of your eyebrow (near the inner corner) straight up prior to gel application.
Going Pro: Essential Maintenance
Regular dedicated maintenance is essential in ensuring your groomed arches remain. I would recommend a regular fortnightly professional brow shape and trim once you have achieved your desired shape. If you have...
Fine brows: For those with fewer hairs, tweezing will provide more control.
Medium brows: Waxing will remove more hair in one go resulting in less pain!
Heavy brows: Thick and thin hairs can be removed quickly by opting for a threading treatment.
Simple Solutions
There are numerous ways to reduce the pain caused by plucking. My three main tips I use and swear by are...
1. Minimize pain by tweezing after a hot shower.
2. Apply Anbesol. This will numb the skin preventing any unwanted pain.
3. Pull your skin taut as you tweeze. This will ensure hairs are being clasped at their base.
Finally, remember to always prevent post-tweezing trauma as much as possible and invest in a brightening concealer. These particular products are perfect for reducing any redness.
