Banish Brittle Hair

Exposure to ultraviolet rays, styling products and appliances, dietary imbalances and, chemical processing such as bleaching and colourants can all damage your hairs natural state and, when used excessively, can often lead to a condition known as brittle hair. Brittle hair is a common condition produced by insufficient oil from the scalp. A frizzy, fragile looking barnet which easily breaks when brushed is a sure sign that your hair is in poor health and in major need of some TLC.
Hair problems can be distressing and dry or brittle hair can be equally as unpleasant. If you are suffering from this particular condition it is vital that you look after your hair to prevent further breakage and loss.
This can be achieved through a number of ways...

Increase your protein levels

Keratin is responsible for hair growth. If your hair is brittle due to dietary imbalances increasing your protein will ensure keratin levels are kept high. Essential fatty acids such as oily fish are vital for hair health. For thicker, glossier hair nuts and seeds are a great source of protein to keep your mane looking and, feeling healthy.
You should aim to achieve a good balance of a variety of protein sources which in affect, will help to improve the overall condition of dry brittle hair.

Increase your fluid intake

Inadequate fluid intake can result in dehydration causing both your skin and hair to look visibly dull and dry. Ensure that you are kept hydrated by drinking as many as eight glasses of water a day. This will re-hydrate your scalp while ensuring your hair follicles receive vital nutrients.
Blood circulation can also be improved by massaging your scalp on a regular basis.

Bananas

Bananas are the perfect hair food to nourish and strengthen dry brittle hair. A great home remedy can be produced by mixing 200ml of milk with a banana and tablespoon of honey. Thoroughly massage the mixture into the scalp then leave for 30 minutes before rinsing. The vitamins, natural oil and potassium found in bananas will leave hair feeling and, looking stronger with smoother ends. Alternatively, leave in conditioners or oils containing banana or coconut can also be used to achieve the same strengthening results.
