The Best Core Exercises For Sexy Washboard Abs

I hope you guys enjoyed my tips on how to achieve a bootilicious behind.
Today is all about another troublesome area...the dreaded muffin top. Lets face it, us girls all go through phases of hating that stubborn bit that just refuses to be sucked into to our skinny jeans. We all dream of having sexy washboard abs that would even make the likes of Nicole Scherzinger jealous. I know I do!! Including my following tips in your weekly workout regime will see you flexing those sexy abs in no time.

Ever heard the saying ‘’abs are made in the kitchen’’ well a ripped mid section starts just there. From the complete fitness virgin to professional athletes everyone has them but it is infact your body fat percentage that determines their visibility.

Eating clean is one of the most important components of shredding fat and developing a strong core. What you eat has a far greater impact on weight loss and toning your mid section than endless amounts of cardio and crunches.

When you think of the abdominal muscles many people think in terms of ‘’sick pack abs’’ but the truth is there is more to your abs than just a six pack. The abdomen is the largest cavity in the body and is divided into two main parts, upper and lower. The anterior abdominal wall consists of six different muscles, the rectus abdominus, better known as your six pack, the oblique muscles (the two external and two internal muscles on each side) and the transverse abdominus, the deepest stomach muscle and most critical to strengthen to build a strong core. These muscles work together to support the torso, allow movement and hold organs in place by regulating internal abdominal pressure.

The primary purpose of having a strong core and abdominal musculature is to not only improve sports performance and posture but to help support the lower back region, reducing back pain and correcting muscle imbalances.

Although you cannot ‘’spot reduce’’ fat, treating your abs like any other muscle group by training them at most 3x a week together with a clean diet and adequate water intake should reveal a smaller and more toned mid section over time.
The most effective way to improve tone and definition is to include a variety of weight resistance sessions and cardio blasts however, adding the following core exercises at the end of three of these sessions a week will not only burn more calories but help towards building a stronger, more defined core.

·        Reverse Crunch

·        Corkscrew

·        V-sit

·        Bicycle Crunch

·        Russian Twist

·        Hanging Knee Raise Hold

·        Spiderman Plank Crunch

·        Kettlebell Rotation

·        Swiss-ball Rollout

·        Weighted Sit Up

Like any exercise when training abs always remember the golden rule, quality over quantity. For more effective results slow each move down. By varying the speed of your workout you will place your core under more tension, producing more strength and gaining better results.
Remember to keep your mid section engaged at all times (sucking your belly button into your spine) this uses more muscles, tightening your abs whilst protecting your back. Finally, your core muscles need oxygen so don’t hold your breath! As a general rule inhale on the easiest part of the move and exhale on the hardest. Follow these simple steps and those killer abs will be revealed in no time.

For those of you new to the world of exercise I would recommend spending some time browsing good old youtube. This site is fab for teaching you how to perform each of the exercises listed with correct form if you can't afford to splash out on a personal trainer.
