Make-up Masterclass: Pop Art Eyes

From vibrant talons to fuchsia lips, bold brights are huge this season.
This fresh and experimental look is guaranteed to make a knock out on trend statement, but why should your nails and lips have all the fun?
Today I'll give you the ultimate masterclass in how to create punk rock, pop art inspired eyes that will look stunning against any eye colour.

Step One: No prime is a crime!
Prep your eyelids by applying an eye primer. This will not only create a smooth canvas for shadow application but provide extra durability and really make brights pop. Alternatively, a cream colour in the same shade as your chosen shadow can be used as a substitute to primer.

Insider Tip: Avoid creating a base with a pale shimmer if you plan to apply any of your colours wet. Although this particular method is advised to intensify eye cosmetics, the water will only pick up the base colour resulting in a pasty effect once further shades are applied.

Step Two: Brush effect.
Stiff, flat-edged brushes are great for the application of strong blocks of colour. Use this particular tool to apply a yellow shadow over the entire eyelid.

Insider Tip: A great tip to remember when it comes to brush selection is that natural brushes are always best and a synthetic tool is great for cream textures.

Step Three: Precise application.
With your brush, apply a mid-orange shade to the centre of the eyelid and taper outwards. A bright orange shadow should then be applied on top towards the outer corner of the eye before a large, fluffy blending brush is used to blend the entire lid.

Insider Tip: Foam applicators should be used to load on colour, not blend. To minimise the risk of mixing all the colours into one shade, always ensure that the blending of eye shadow is of a gentle manner.

Step Four: Final touches.
Complete this fresh funky look by applying a strong kohl line along the top and bottom lashes to give the bright shades a real edge. For added impact, tame brows until a strong effect is achieved.

Insider Tip: Any gaps of colour between the lashes can successfully be disguised by applying tiny dots of fine liquid eyeliner.
