Staying Power. How To Prolong The Life Of Your Cosmetics.

Follow my simple techniques to prolong the life of your cosmetics and ensure that your make-up stays looking beautifully flawless all day...

Base Control

After the application of a liquid foundation use a tissue to blot your face. Ensuring your skin is free from all traces of excess surface oil will prevent any interference with the products staying power.
Alternatively, you may want to consider adding another thin layer of foundation. This will not only provide maximum coverage but when set with a light dusting of face powder, will ensure that your base lasts.

Lash Power

To achieve fuller, more voluptuous lashes with serious staying power dust your eyelashes with a very small amount of face powder prior to coating them with mascara.
Long-lasting formulas are designed to be more durable so if your mascara has a habit of not staying in place, these products are definitely worth investing in.

Lasting Liner

To set your eyeliner and ensure that it is kept in place for longer, use a fine brush dipped in eyeshadow or face powder to trace the original line. This technique can be applied to both liquid and pencil formulas and just like foundation, will simply set your make-up in place.
Alternatively, you may want to opt for a waterproof product. These are a lot more durable and contain specific ingredients designed to withstand humidity.

Lip Fix

Long-wear lipsticks are often drying on the lips and require special removers. Instead of investing in these particular products, shade the entire lip area with a lipliner close to your natural colour and apply lipstick as normal. Prior to re-applying a further coat, blot your lips with a tissue and repeat the process until a stain of colour remains on the lips. Complete your look by adding a final coat of lipstick.

Shadow Boost

Your eyeshadows staying power can easily be extended by applying an oil-free foundation to the eyelids prior to the application of eye cosmetics. Oil-free formulations provide a great adhesive base for eye make-up without sliding off. Their oil-based equivalents on the other hand, are not as long lasting.

Lasting Blush

Powder blushes can disappear within hours of application. To prevent this common problem, apply a cream blush before dusting with a powder formula in a similar shade. The powder blusher will act as a setting agent over the cream formula, improving its staying power for long lasting wear.

Lip Coat

A non-toxic, water based felt tip pen can be used as a base coat to stain the lips. This particular technique guarantees your lip colour will remain and is a great way of creating a 'bee-sting' look.
To remove, massage a cream based cleanser into the lips and allow the colour to break down by waiting a few seconds. Follow by wiping with cotton wool.
