Make-up Tips For People Who Wear Contact Lenses
Make-up particles trapped between a natural lens and contact lens will not only cause extreme discomfort, but severe irritation and inflammation.
Great care should always be taken to prevent the occurrence of any unwanted irritation when applying cosmetics to an individual who wears contact lenses. Following these simple precautions will ensure that any discomfort of the eye area is kept to a minimum throughout the application of make-up:
- Prevention is key. Always ensure that make-up applicators do not come into contact with the eyes while taking special care to work with a gentle nature when touching the delicate skin surrounding the eye area.
- It is essential to avoid the application of heavy creams and greasy products. These particular formulas will only melt, causing the lens to smear and blur.
- Great care should always be taken throughout the application of powdered products. The dust particles created when transferring powder from the container can easily gather in the atmosphere. As a result, clients will not only feel a gritty sensation, but experience great discomfort and irritation.
- Opting for cream textured pressed powder eye shadows as an alternative to loose, dry formulas will offer a more precise application, while minimizing the risk of any excess traces of make-up entering the eye. For extra control, simply apply powder eye shadows with a slightly damp brush.
- A low alcohol block or liquid mascara free from filaments should be applied. Products containing fibre filaments will only irritate the eye if they become trapped under the lens.
- The application of spirit-based waterproof mascara should be avoided at all costs. The evaporation of the spirit will not only cause irritation, but force the eyes to water.
Never apply eye cosmetics if there are any signs of infection, sensitivity or, if the eyes are watery.
Yep, it's true. Some makeup products tend to cause eye irritation especially to women who wear contact lenses. It is often recommended to consult an eye doctor in order to know which kind of contact lenses and solutions are safe. Nevertheless, this blog is very informative.
