Why we need to scrap the hunger scale

From starving to feeling sick, the 'hunger scale' may sound like a simple solution to pin pointing what our hunger pangs are hinting at, but if we suffer from a digestive disorder such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or are intolerant to a particular ingredient/s that has been pumped into a food or drink product, we are susceptible to feeling slightly (to very) uncomfortable, sick and sore in the stomach area after as little as one mouthful of the offending source regardless of whether or not we have 'overeaten.'

Instead of relying on unrealistic charts to resemble what you 'should' and 'should not' be feeling before and after food, listen to your body and how it reacts to specific food and drink sources - the only thing that can pin point your dietary needs and the culprit/s responsible for your current symptoms.

Top tip: exercise, underlying medical conditions such as diabetes and digestive disorders and our chosen food or drink source can all influence how we feel before and after food - a 'chart' can't take any of these into consideration.
