Sensible swap: breakfast bars for a homemade almond butter oat bar

Sensible swap...
Swap sugar fuelled breakfast bars - those bursting with added sugar and hidden nasties - for a healthier, homemade almond butter oat bar.
Ingredients - to make 12 bars:
• 300g oats
• 2 ripe bananas - mashed
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 200g dried fruit of your choice - finely chopped
• 70ml almond or light olive oil
• 3 tbsp raw honey
• 2 tbsp of almond butter
• 40g mixed seeds
What to do:
• Preheat the oven to 180C/160C/Gas 4.
• Mix all of the ingredients together - this can be done in a large bowl - before pressing the combined mixture into a 20 x 30cm lined baking tin.
• Pop in the oven to bake for 25 minutes.
• Remove from the baking tin and divide into 12 bars - set aside to cool.
• Enjoy as a speedy snack or a healthier alternative to sugar fuelled breakfast bars.
Top tip: use the versatility of this tasty treat to your advantage by experimenting with different ingredients. Swapping almond butter for organic peanut butter - with no added sugar or hidden nasties - almond oil for coconut oil, dried fruit for desiccated coconut and even drizzling the bars with melted dark chocolate - of at least 70% cocoa - will each create a delicious variation of this healthier alternative.
