Nailing It: How To Shape A Small & Narrow Nail Plate

From narrow and small, to curved and curled, nails may come in an array of shapes and sizes, but not everyone is blessed with a perfectly formed nail plate.

Excessively small and narrow nails are a common, yet unsightly shape guaranteed to draw unwanted attention to even the most immaculately manicured hands, and with their distinctive narrow appearance, its easy to understand why this inadequately sized nail plate oozes nothing but an unflattering inconvenience.

A great tip to reduce the undesirable impact a small, narrow nail plate creates, is to avoid allowing your talons to grow in great length. Not only will flaunting visibly long nails draw unwanted attention to a small bodied nail, but this particular nail shape has a tendency to curl under sideways, creating a point to the tip. Simply opting for a square shaped nail with rounded corners will successfully provide the additional width a small, narrow nail plate so desperately requires, while ensuring that the nail remains a relatively normal shape once curling develops. Filing nails into this particular shape will also add bulk to the body of a smaller nail, minimizing the unsightly narrow effect to create the appearance of a larger looking nail plate.

Remember false nail enhancements may also be applied in order to straighten and widen nails which are extremely curled, or narrow.
