Beauty Intelligence: The Cause Of A Skin Blockage

From comedones to sebaceous cysts, skin blockages are a common occurrence once we fail to take adequate care of our skin, but what exactly causes these unwanted problems? The answer is pretty simple...pores!

Pores are open areas of skin which allow the free flow of sweat and sebum on to its surface. Once obstructed,  an increased accumulation of these particular fluids force the sweat and sebum to become trapped, preventing them from being successfully dispersed over the skin's surface.
The term blocked pore is often used to describe a build up of sebum in the opening of a hair follicle. This is due to excessive sebum production which over time, forces pores to stretch.

Although stubborn to treat, it is important to release any blockages in the prevention of sebum accumulating further down the follicle. Warming the area through facial steaming or warm towels can not only help to soften and loosen skin blockages, but reduce the risk of skin damage during the removal process. A great way to ensure this common condition is removed effectively and efficiently is to visit your beautician. Regular facials are not only extremely beneficial, but a specialized pore-cleansing treatment can be incorporated into your skin regime.
