Tip of the day:superficial goals sabotage weight loss success...

Top tip of the day...

Weight loss success rarely stems from setting superficial goals.

Although striving for a slender silhouette may strengthen our self-efficacy in the short-term, setting such a superficial goal can not only sabotage our weight loss success - the average dieter will give up on their goals when they fail to portray their perception of the 'perfect' physique - but diminish our dieting determination when our desperation to drop a dress size (a common concern that often stems from setting superficial goals) drives us to resort to the restrictive and unrealistic eating and exercise regimes that leave us prone to piling on the pounds - our struggle to sustain such a strategic lifestyle results in us resorting back to our unhealthy habits where we quickly regain our 'fuller' figure and feelings of failure.
