Child health:ditch detrimental drinks for fruit infused water...

Frozen fruit infused water.
Fab find...

What: a BPA free plastic fruit infuser bottle in pink - other colours include lime, berry and turquoise.

Where: you can purchase this particular product for £3.49 from Aldi subject to stock availability (the deal started on Monday 2nd January).

Why: if the tame taste of tap water fails to tickle your tot's taste buds, this bargain bottle (with a built in fruit infuser) can be used to create a flavoursome form of fluid from fresh (or frozen!) fruits - think a mixed melon melody or the tantalising taste of tropical fruits such as pineapple, pomegranate and passionfruit.

How: spruce up spring water in a matter of minutes by simply inserting a selection of sliced fruit sources and/or segments into the petite piston prior to pouring in water (I used sparkling water with no added sugar for fizz).

The bottle before use.
The best bit: aside from being a bargain buy (branded bottles can cost up to £15*), this clever concoction can not only slash your youngster's sugar intake by creating a sensible and satisfying source to sip - swapping detrimental drinks such as sugary soft drinks (as well as seemingly sensible fluids such as fruit juice) for fruit infused water can leave little'uns less likely to develop dental decay and detrimental diseases including childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes - but ignite an instant interest in unfamiliar fruits - a fruit infuser bottle is a fantastic way to introduce 'feared' fruits into your youngster's daily diet without the worry of triggering a tantrum (particularly as many minors will be mesmerised by the captivating colour and abundance of bubbles that surround the fruit filled piston!).

Top tip: if your strategic schedule leaves you short on time, opt for frozen fruit as opposed to fresh - the rapid release of the thawing fruits' juices will inject instant flavour into the water whilst the ice will continue to keep the drink cool.
