Recipe: super green smoothie

Sensible swap...

Swap a processed protein shake for a naturally nutritious super green smoothie.

Ingredients - to serve two:

  • 1 large ripe banana - peeled and chopped
  • 1 kiwi - peeled and chopped
  • 2-3 tsp chia seeds
  • 60g frozen spinach
  • 125g non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 375ml skimmed milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract - less depending on desired taste
  • ice cubes
What to do:

  • Pop the ingredients into a food processor and blitz until a smooth and creamy consistency is created. 
  • Pour the mixture into two glasses and serve.
Top tip: although shakes may provide a speedy source of 'protein' after physical activity, a healthy, homemade alternative bursting with vital vitamins, minerals and antioxidants - think vitamins A, C and B-6 and minerals such as calcium, iron and magnesium - will benefit your body, muscles and mind far more than processed powder!
