Why we should skip shopping on an empty stomach
A little food for thought...
Shopping on an empty stomach can lead to an expanding waistline.
As blood sugar levels slump and our stomaches succumb to the overwhelming urge to eat, our body's biological reaction is to source food in order to stabilise blood sugar levels and banish the uncontrollable hunger pangs that suddenly make the most revolting of recipes seem like a sensible solution to an unsatisfied stomach, but venturing into shops and supermarkets when hungry can quickly lead to an expanding waistline as we fail to make logical decisions surrounding our spur of the moment food choices.
In fact, research indicates that due to the human body's biological programming - the biological programming that insists we source food when hungry - the crippling cramps that we experience as a result of skipped snacks and minimal meals can not only influence our decision making, but leave us prone to purchasing unhealthy food and drink products on impulse as we attempt to silence our stomaches.
In order to prevent piling on additional pounds, always ensure that blood sugar levels remain stable by consuming sensible snacks and meals - ideally of the complex carbohydrate variety as opposed to sugary sweet treats - at regular intervals - at least every three hours - and never shop on an empty stomach!
