Health & wellbeing: drop a dress size with a diary
With the temptation of takeaways and technology luring us into leading a lifestyle fuelled by fast food, maintaining the motivation to move more and consume less crap can often feel like an overwhelming obstacle that is too time consuming to overcome - an exaggerated excuse that we often create in an attempt to convince ourselves that our actions are acceptable - but is the religious routine that stems from our 'strict schedule' really worth developing the wider waistline that leaves us sluggish and susceptible to a multitude of medical complications?
Before a lack of time tightens your trousers and triggers the temptation to give up on your goals, pin point how you prioritise your day by creating a daily diary of your regular routine - this should include time spent using technology, watching TV, working, cooking and even cleaning if the task is performed on a daily basis.
Although this top tip won't stop you from swapping a tough training session for a takeaway in front of the TV (this will require a combination of a motivated mind and the commitment to create change!), it will allow you to acknowledge which of your allocated activities can be adjusted in order to make time for fitness and nutritious food - think swapping (or slashing!) the time spent using technology or watching TV for a testing training session, cutting your cleaning time to cook from scratch and waking half an hour early to ensure that you prepare sensible snacks for the day ahead.
Top tip: sometimes we can become so psychologically preoccupied with paying the bills, that we forget to pay attention to ourselves.
As tough as it may be to make time for moving more and consuming less crap, ditching the daily activities that hinder your health is far easier than dedicating a lifetime to the diseases that damage more than just your dress size - remember that the next time that you're tempted to turn to fast food instead of fitness.
