Weight loss: why weekends are no longer my weakness

Although weekends were once my weakness, sacrificing sofa fuelled feasts for sweaty training sessions seems like a small price to pay for a physique that doesn't cripple my confidence.

Instead of hindering my healthier habits by bingeing on bad food and an abundance of alcohol, I maintain the motivation to move more and eat less (crap) by remembering what the reality of resorting to too many treats, tipples and takeaways resembled - an erratic existence that left me physically and psychologically exhausted with no energy to participate in physical activity, or to sustain sensible food swaps.

My former 'fat' and fatigued self that struggled to say no to socialising may be a far cry from the fitness fanatic that I am today, but waking with the willpower to test my physical and psychological strength and stamina with workouts that leave me wanting more is an exhilarating experience that ensures that the erratic existence I once lived for is now nothing but a mere memory in my motivated mind.

Top tip: instead of intensifying every exaggerated excuse to relax your regular regime by bombarding your brain with ridiculous reasons to run riot at the weekend, take a moment to think about how you will feel on Monday morning when the mistakes of yesterday's you make you realise that you've potentially ruined the healthier habits that you have worked hard to maintain. One week may not make much difference to your weight and willpower, but one week repeated on a regular basis, will.
