Cuticle Care: How To Use Cuticle Remover Safely

Cuticle remover is a fluid-based, alkaline lotion, or liquid, specifically formulated to soften excess cuticle, and dead outer skin cells surrounding the nail plate prior to removal via use of a cuticle knife, cuticle stick, or cuticle nippers.

Although often combined with a moisturizing agent such as glycerine, a cuticle removers alkali content of potassium hydroxide is not only caustic, but can force skin to become dry, sore and irritated if this particular product is allowed to remain in direct contact with skin for too long.

A great tip in order to ensure that you are using cuticle remover with care, is to never exceed 8-10 minutes of direct contact with skin. Opting for the application of a thin layer of product and ensuring that any remaining residue is removed via warm, soapy water after all cuticle work has been performed, will also minimize the risk of unwanted irritation induced by this mildly corrosive substance.
