Beauty Tip: Nails

Its no secret that nail enamel removers can create an array of unwanted problems when applied to the natural nail, but did you know that these particular products can also damage artificial nail enhancements?

Acetone is the solvent responsible for the drying effect often associated with the removal of enamel. Bursting with dissolving properties, this key ingredient found in the majority of enamel removers is specifically formulated to successfully dissolve a variety of substances and plastics, but how does this effect nail enhancements? Simple...

Although artificial nails may be free from natural oils and moisture, they are still susceptible to damage from chemicals and solvents, particularly acetone which is known to damage all artificially enhanced nail systems.

Despite acetone's dissolving properties being used extensively during the removal process of nail extensions, this particular solvent also dissolves nail tips, glue and any product which has been applied to the surface of the enhanced nail structure, but don't panic! A great tip in the prevention of unwanted damage is to simply opt for an alcohol based nail enamel remover as an alternative to acetone. These products are not only great for use on nail enhancements, but remove polish just as well.
