Weight loss stems from the mind...

Food for thought: successful weight loss stems from the mind...

The mind is like a pre-prepared plant pot, each seed that has been sown has been influenced by both internal and external factors such as:

  • society's detrimental perception of the terms 'diet' and 'dieting'
  • manipulative and misleading food manufacturers
  • life long food habits, beliefs and associations - many of which have developed during early childhood
  • internal emotions and external environments, etc.
In order to initiate the effective and efficient elimination of excess weight, we must first focus on digging deep to determine the root reason/s behind our unhealthy behaviour, before removing any weeds (unhealthy habits/negative cognitions) and re-planting the seeds in a way which not only promotes positive personal growth e.g. the self-acceptance that strengthens self-esteem, but forms the fundamental foundations of healthier eating and exercise habits e.g. by making simple but satisfying food swaps and slashing the time spent in a sedentary state.

Although it's perfectly possible for a flower (a slender silhouette) to grow amongst weeds, it can only flourish to its full potential (long-term weight loss) when the weeds are removed by their roots, and its stem is no longer being smothered under a surface that's hiding what's truly holding it back from blossoming. Unless we're willing to work on our weight and well-being from the inside out i.e. by digging deep to determine the root reason/s why we eat and overeat, our predisposition to piling on the pounds (and premature death and disease) will only continue to grow in a detrimental direction.
